Tasha Nijjar
Community Outreach Coordinator

 

Tasha is a graduate of McGill University with a double major in international development and economics. Tasha has a long history of involvement with youth and cultural organizations both in British Columbia and Québec. She has worked with French Canadian and Aboriginal youth living in care, as well as immigrants requiring victim services support. Through the Red Cross she helped develop outreach strategies to Aboriginal communities around first aid and to the South Asian community around disaster preparedness. In addition to the Red Cross, Tasha has worked with Youth Taking Action, VIRSA Youth Mentorship Program, the McGill Literacy Programme, VictimLINK and the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change. Tasha speaks three languages: English, French and Punjabi and has professional training and experience as a facilitator and a workshop leader. She was the Community Outreach Coordinator for Canada's World from October 2007 to December 2008, when she left to pursue international work opportunities. Canada's World deeply appreciates her effort, energy and enthusiasm in the position, now being filled by Elodie Jacquet.
