Mustafa comes to Canada’s world with a passion for International Development. Having completed his undergraduate degree in Economics at Simon Fraser University (SFU) and a gradate diploma from School of African and Oriental Studies (SOAS), in London UK, Mustafa has recently returned to SFU to pursue a master’s degree in International Development.
During his undergraduate degree Mustafa worked with the UN Tribunal for Rwanda (UNICTR) in Arusha, Tanzania, and Rwanda, assisting in the collection of data for litigation towards high profile cases regarding the genocide in Rwanda. After completion of his undergraduate degree, he worked with the Protection Unit in the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) operation in Kenya and Somalia assisting Internally Displaced Persons. He is also a member of the Danish Refugee Council’s Emergency Stand-By Roster.
Mustafa’s research interests include; Protection, Human Rights, Development, Program Management, Humanitarian Coordination, and examining syncretic ways these issues relate to the design and implementation of humanitarian and development programs.
