Kaitlyn (Kat) Braybrooke
Online Community Facilitator
Kaitlyn is passionate about social change and how it can be promoted through online engagement techniques. She has organized a variety of communications, graphic design and event-based initiatives for groups in Vancouver and in Las Vegas where she grew up, including Save Our Net, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, Check Your Head, Get Your Vote On, PANOS, Oxfam and the Red Cross.
Kaitlyn is also the Outreach Coordinator and a copy-editor for The Tyee, one of B.C.'s only independent newspapers, and is the Founding Editor of VELOCITY, a multi-author blog which derides the stereotype that Millennial youth are apathetic and showcases their ideas and activism. Kaitlyn tries to contribute as much as possible to Vancouver's civil society -- she organizes new media events, serves on municipal advisory committees and volunteers her graphic and web design skills for nonprofits in her free time.
As a Canadian with American roots with an A.A. in Peace and Conflict Studies from Langara and a B.A. in Political Science from UBC, Kaitlyn has a distinct sense of the importance of dialogue about Canadian foreign policy. She is sincerely excited to use that dialogue to engage and empower online users across the world.
