Mahtani
Minelle Mahtani is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography and the Program in Journalism, University of Toronto. She was a national television news producer at the CBC before completing her PhD at University College London on women of "mixed race" in Toronto, Canada. Her work has appeared in international journals, including Gender, Place and Culture; Ethnicities; Progress in Planning; Social Identities, among other journals. She has been invited to speak at a variety of academic institutions, including Yale, Harvard and the University of New South Wales, Australia. She was a Killam postdoctoral fellow at the School of Journalism and the Department of Geography at UBC and was also strategic counsel at IMPACS - the Institute for Media, Policy and Civil Society. She was recently named a Fellow with the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. Dr. Mahtani has consulted with the Ministry of Multiculturalism and Immigration (MMI), Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), and the Department of Canadian Heritage.
